What is Praktika?
Praktika is a spoken-conversation app made by Praktika.ai Company, whose terms name Delaware law and a Wilmington address. Its co-founder and CEO is Adam Turaev. You talk to animated “Gen AI” avatars that have different personas and accents, either by holding a button to talk or in a hands-free video-call mode. According to its help center, the app gives real-time feedback on pronunciation (an overall score and a score per word), grammar, vocabulary and pace, and builds a personalised plan.
Its lesson types include Free Talk, scenario missions and custom topics with roles, and the tutor can explain in your native language if you turn that on. Premium adds tutor memory and daily challenges. Praktika says its exam feedback is not scored to any exam’s official criteria.

One subscription covers all of them. The App Store description names only 12, so check that your language is included. How much does Praktika cost?

Cancellation and refund terms are worth reading:
- The terms say subscriptions renew automatically, you cancel in the app’s settings or through your store, and fees for the current period are not refunded except where the law requires or Praktika chooses.
- Praktika’s help center is looser: it says refunds are possible if you ask within 48 hours of a charge. The two do not fully match, so do not rely on the help center alone.
- Purchases through Apple or Google are refunded by those stores. An Apple trial must be cancelled more than 24 hours before it ends.
Ratings and complaints
The US App Store rating is 4.7 from about 163,700 ratings, and Google Play shows 4.6 from about 1.28 million, with more than 10 million installs. Trustpilot is lower, at 3.7 from about 1,190 reviews, of which 577 are five-star and 222 are one-star.
Praise centers on low-pressure speaking, chats that adapt to you and instant corrections. Nine of the latest 20 Trustpilot reviews are one-star, and the complaints describe charges after cancelling, refund requests that went unanswered and slow support. Other reviewers call some conversations robotic or repetitive, and mention speech-recognition and Chinese-tutor errors. Trustpilot reviews are self-selected, so use them as a signal, not a verdict.
Privacy and limits
Praktika needs an internet connection, although lessons can be downloaded, and its iOS app requires iOS 18 or later.
